New Balance Internship: Player, Club, and Agent Database Creation

During my internship at New Balance in the summer of 2019, a portion of my internship was allocated to conducting market research and player, agent, and club database management. I worked in the sports marketing department as a global soccer and domestic tennis intern. While working on the global soccer portion of my internship, I was assigned to curate a scouting database of player, team, and sports agent information such as basic demographic information, club/team history, and sports agency management and information. All of this information was directly communicated to my boss on a consistent basis to enable him and my other superiors to make more educated decisions directly related to player acquisition and investment.

Through this project I utilized and developed my organizational and technological skills in Microsoft Excel to effectively collect and analyze player data. This project also expanded my knowledge and increased my understanding into the vastness and complexity of global sports marketing and the sports marketing industry.

New Balance Internship: Women’s Global Soccer Budget Expansion Presentation

My keynote project for the global soccer portion of my internship was to create and conduct a detailed competitor analysis on the global women’s soccer landscape. The purpose of completing this project was for my supervisor and his associates to utilize the information I presented to explore New Balance’s potential investment in global women’s soccer. As I worked on this project throughout the course of the summer, I utilized key accredited websites such as Bloomberg.com, Statista.com, Nielson.com, and ESPN.

Through this extensive research and analysis, I learned the importance of proper research analysis in direct relation to one’s narrative, how to specialize and narrow your focus through research utilizing various search engines, and most importantly how to assemble an effective, simple, and clear presentation to drive home key findings and data points. This project also helped me to increase my understanding and use of Microsoft Powerpoint as well. At the culmination of my internship I presented these findings to the CMO. The presentation is attached below
